With a full-time Safety Director and rigorous ongoing education, we’re certified to perform in the most demanding facilities including airports, refineries, ports, and treatment plants.
At G&F, safety is a lifestyle. Every project begins with tailgate meetings and hazard assessments. Safety topics are reviewed biweekly. Common discussions include strategies for avoiding slips and falls as well as heat exhaustion, and promoting situational awareness.

Long before MERIT became a recognized name in concrete cutting equipment, it began as a simple idea inside the G&F workshop: What if we could build tools that made the work safer, smoother, and more reliable for crews in the field?
With that mindset, our team started designing and fabricating equipment that reflected the real needs we saw on job sites every day. Those early solutions—built with a lot of hard work, hands-on testing, and honest craftsmanship—eventually grew into what became known as MERIT equipment.
We never set out to create a brand; we set out to solve problems. But the tools spoke for themselves. Over time, MERIT earned a strong reputation, and its success opened the door for broader growth. In 2018, MERIT Engineering & Equipment Company was acquired by Blount International, enabling the product line to expand globally.
Even though MERIT has moved on to a new chapter, we remain proud of its roots. G&F is where MERIT was imagined, developed, and first put to work. That history continues to influence how we operate today—quietly, consistently, and with respect for the crews who depend on their tools every day.
